Once there was a little rad doll made of beautiful, soft rags. She enjoyed making children smile. One day a young boy tripped and fell. The boy began to cry because he had ripped his pants and was afraid his mother would be mad. Hearing his cry the rag doll took pity on the young boy and said, "Here take some of my rags to your mother so she can patch the hole." The young buy got some scissors and cut off a rag from the doll. Even though it hurt, the rag doll did not cry, she only smiled because it made the young boy happy. A few days later a little girl stepped on her dress while playing hopscotch and began to cry because it was her favorite and it had ripped. The little rad doll took pitty on her and said, "Take some of my rads that match your dress, and take them to your mother to fix it." The little girl cut off some rags, and even though it hurt, the rag doll only smiled. She had made the little girl happy. One sunny afternoon the little girl was outside playing again and the other girls saw the soft beautiful rags that had mended her dress and wanted some. The little girl said, "The little rag doll gave them too me." The other girls went and found the little rag doll and asked for her rags. "I want one to tie in my hair." said one. "I want one to match my shoes." said another. 'I want' after 'I want.' But the little rag doll didn't say know because she wanted to make the children smile. She only said "Here take some of my rags." and the girls cut and cut until there was only one rag left. It hurt the rag doll but she did not cry, she only smiled; even though she was nothing but a rag on the ground. "I'm so happy." she said over and over even as the wind threatened to blow her away. A little old lady found the little rag doll on the ground. The little old lady was draped in a shawl made of soft beautiful rags. She frowned at the little rad doll, then slowly smiled, "Penelope, is that you?" the little rag doll recognised the little old lady's voice. "Molly?" "Yes it is me, what has happened to you?" The little old lady said as she picked up the little rag doll. She took the rag doll to her house and tool apart her shawl and began to cut off the rags, one by one. As she did so she talked to the little rag doll, "You have always been so selfless, I think its time you rested." She took the rags and sowed the little rag doll back together. The little rag doll cried, she cried because she knew she was home and now she was truly happy. The little rag dolled stayed by the little old lady's side until the day she died. When the little old lady was berried, the little rag doll gave one last time and dissolved into a rainbow above the little old lady's grave.
The End.
